This term, we are learning about rocks and fossils. Our Year 3 scientists have been busy planning fair tests to establish whether all rocks are hard and whether all rocks are permeable. After agreeing in our groups how many times to fairly test each of our rocks, we discovered that not all rocks are hard (with some of our rocks, lots of sediment came off in our hands!) and not all rocks are permeable (some of our rocks absorbed all of the drops of water). Interestingly, we discovered that the rocks that were softer, including chalk, were also permeable. Last week, we learnt the skill of classifying rocks according to their physical properties and so today, we grouped our rocks according to whether they were permeable or impermeable.
