Having consolidated our knowledge of the place value in 2- and 3-digit numbers, Year 3 are now moving towards being able to select the most efficient method for addition. To begin, we are investigating expanded column addition, and started by using dienes to understand what it looks like to exchange from one column to the next before moving on to the formal written method.
